Chinese fishing vessels to have a degree of safety like never before!
Beam Communications Holdings Ltd (ASX: BCC) is pleased to announce that it has received another
purchase order from Beijing Marine Communications & Navigation
Company (MCN).
The order is for the Beam designed and developed Oceana 800 satellite terminal, which will be
deployed on fishing vessels in China. The Oceana 800 supports the Inmarsat GSPS service, essentially allowing for almost-instant communication from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world, except polar caps- this is the first
approved device of its kind in the world.
For MCN, it means Chinese fishing vessels will have a degree of safety like never before. With the ability to reliably stay in touch with the mainland, safety and relief crews can be notified of impending danger and complications on a journey regardless of where the ship is sailing.
MCN is a leading operator of satellite communication services in China and has been a Beam Reseller
since 2012. The company is the only organisation authorised to supply Inmarsat services on the
Chinese mainland.
The long-standing strategic partnership between the companies has led to the sale of several
thousand Beam Oceana products into China.

LAUNCH OF WORLD’S FIRST SEAMLESS GLOBAL MESSAGING & SOS SERVICE
Beam Communications Holdings Limited (ASX: BCC) is pleased to announce the pre-sales launch of
the affordable and highly capable global messaging device, ZOLEO, on 18 December 2019, with the
unit to ship to customers from mid-January 2020.
The compact, wearable and rugged satellite device will be available from the SatPhoneShop.com
website, wholly-owned by Beam, and multiple major online platforms, such as eBay and
Amazon.com, shortly thereafter.
ZOLEO will also be sold through select leading brick and mortar retailers, suiting users who prefer to
inspect the product before purchase. Details of those vendors will be provided shortly.
ZOLEO will carry a MSRP of A$345 and will give global satellite messaging and SOS capabilities to
mobile phones (Android and Apple) via low-cost monthly plans starting from A$32, up to an
unlimited usage plan for A$80. All plans include an Australian dedicated mobile number that allows users to send and receive SMS
to the same number for the life of their service. All prices are inclusive of GST

Significant and targeted market appeal
The development of ZOLEO was based on thorough market research of target users, with 96% of surveyed respondents rating messaging communications and SOS alert features as the biggest reasons to purchase such a device. In addition to ensuring global SMS functionality, users can also communicate through the free ZOLEO messenger and email app, no matter where they are on the planet, as long as there is clear sight of the sky. There is also a dedicated SOS button for emergencies and a separate check-in “I am OK” button.
The affordable solution is aimed at anyone who travels to or lives in remote areas of the globe, or anyone who moves in and out of mobile coverage for work or play.
As more than 70% of the earth’s surface is without mobile coverage, and 84% of Australia is not serviced by terrestrial networks, this presents a number of large market opportunities for ZOLEO. This includes domestic and international adventure tourists (land or sea), rural residents, remote workers, caravanners, boaters, fishermen, 4WD enthusiasts, mariners and lone workers. The product will also be an essential tool for executive travelers who requires constant contact with their employers and clients. Further, ZOLEO is perfect for those going on cruises who want to remain connected with friends and family, or as a gift to teenagers embarking on a backpacking adventure.

Unique features
• Seamless messaging /email with auto switching between Wi-Fi, mobile and satellite • Familiar smartphone messaging experience with emojis and ease of access to phone’s contacts
• Water-resistant to IP68 (submergible up to 1.5m of water for 30 minutes) • Australian mobile number to send and receive SMS
• Dedicated 24/7 SOS button and separate Check-In button
• Location (GPS) sharing • DarkSkyTM weather forecasts • Up to 200 hours battery life • Multitude of mounting options on body, vehicle, bike, boat etc
• Most affordable solution of its kind that’s currently available
Global sales and recurring revenue
Both companies will jointly develop all other geographic markets. “We are excited by the impending launch of the device as it fills an unmet need in the market. Our experience in developing and selling mobile satellite devices to adventurers in Canada and the US for more than 20 years tells me that ZOLEO will be a big success,” said the chief executive of Roadpost, Morris Shaun. “We have already received pre-orders from several satellite communications dealers and are close to signing up a large North American outdoor equipment retailer.”
The Managing Director of Beam, Michael Capocchi said: “It’s taken us less than two years to design and launch an innovative product like ZOLEO, and that’s a testament to the expertise we’ve developed over almost 20 years in designing communication equipment for the world’s largest satellite operators. “The appeal of ZOLEO is larger than what we are initially targeting. The next step for us will be to develop an end-to-end enterprise solution that will appeal to industries like mining and utilities.”

Another World First for Beam Communications
MELBOURNE,
AUSTRALIA, 12 May 2017: Beam Communications Pty Ltd (Beam), a wholly owned subsidiary of
World Reach Limited (ASX: WWR), has designed, developed and manufactured the
world’s first Satellite and LTE Wi-Fi hotspot product under an OEM arrangement with
Thuraya Telecommunications Company of Dubai (Thuraya).
Thuraya
publicly launched the innovative new terminal, known as the Thuraya WE, at the 2017
Thuraya Partner Conference in Dubai in April.
The product is the world’s first all-in-one dual mode Satellite and LTE
portable Wi-Fi Hotspot.
The
terminal will enable users to access satellite internet at speeds up to 384kbps,
as well as LTE speeds in the Megabits per second when used in Cellular LTE mode,
which is auto-selected by the terminal when that service is available. “This is
an exciting new product, the first Hotspot to offer the embedded dual mode
functionality, and it’s a demonstration of Beam’s continuous focus on
innovation.” said Michael Capocchi, President of Beam.
Beam
also developed a dedicated Thuraya WE App, for both iOS and Android devices
that will enable simple and easy access to worldwide voice calls and SMS services,
along with the use of all applications on a smart phone, tablet or desktop.
This includes full support of services such as i-message®, Skype®, WhatsApp®,
Viber®, YouTube, WeChat®, email services and any other internet-accessible content
for up to 10 users simultaneously via a simple Wi-Fi connection.
The
terminal will also facilitate seamless roaming by Thuraya customers, from
satellite to terrestrial LTE services via either a Thuraya SIM card or a standard
GSM SIM card, enabling users to utilize the best option available.
Thuraya
has agreements with more than 395 GSM cellular roaming partners, particularly
in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia that enable roaming from
the cellular service across to the satellite service on the same SIM card. This
will optimize the appeal of the Thuraya WE Hotspot, and early indications of
likely demand have been very encouraging.
“The
timely delivery of the Thuraya WE is a great achievement and demonstrates
Beam’s focus on technology development while fulfilling the growing needs of
major satellite operators and customers.” said Davide Carpegna, VP of Product
and Business Development at Beam.
Beam
will release early units for demonstrations and marketing activities soon, with
the Thuraya WE commercial units available from Thuraya in the second half of
2017.

TELSTRA STARTS SELLING IRIDIUM GO!® NATIONALLY
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, 11 February 2016: Beam Communications
has today announced Telstra will sell the innovative Iridium GO!® nationally from today.
Beam Communications,
a wholly own subsidiary of ASX listed World Reach Limited (ASX: WWR), designed
and manufactures the product under an OEM arrangement for Iridium
Communications Inc.
“Powered by the
world's furthest reaching network, the Iridium GO!® is a compact, rugged and portable device that provides global
voice calling and SMS solutions and enhanced messaging and email capabilities through optimised apps for any Android
or iOS device,” Beam Communications CEO Michael Capocchi said.
“A major benefit of
the Australian designed Iridium GO!® is it enables satellite connectivity to the Iridium satellite
network for mobile devices where terrestrial networks do not provide coverage
or when they may become unavailable. ” Mr Capocchi said.
“Simply flip up the
integrated antenna and the battery-powered unit connects quickly and
automatically to the Iridium low-Earth orbit satellite constellation to extend
the functionality of the mobile devices. It’s possible to connect and operate
up to five devices within this area using the Iridium GO!® application on each device, “
he said.
Iridium GO!® supports a range of global

sharing and SOS Alert and Tracking capabilities.
“I like how the
Iridium GO!® can be taken
anywhere.” Said Rick O’Brien from the Offroad Adventure Show. “It’s small enough to fit in a pocket and,
like other Iridium devices, ruggedized to withstand rain, sand, dust and rough
use. It can be carried, easily stowed in a backpack or mounted in vehicles and
for use in possibly any mobile applications.”

Iridium Appoints Beam Go-to-Market Partners for Iridium® Push-to-Talk
Melbourne, Australia,
July 1, 2015 -- Beam Communications Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of World
Reach Limited an Australian publicly listed company (ASX: WRR) has been
appointed an official Service Provider for the Iridium® Push-to-Talk.
Iridium Communications
Inc. (Nasdaq:IRDM) today announced the initial service providers for the
Iridium Push-to-Talk (PTT) solution. Iridium PTT is the world’s first global,
satellite-based push-to-talk service, enabling instant communication between
participants located anywhere on earth. Iridium PTT provides a fast, simple,
and global service making the Iridium network available to tens, or tens of
thousands of devices with the push of a single button.
Iridium PTT is
comprised of three components that work seamlessly to provide a ubiquitous
solution globally: the Iridium PTT service delivered through the Iridium Low
Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation; the Iridium Command Center, the
cloud-based management system where all radios and talkgroups are managed; and
the Iridium PTT radios, including both the Iridium Extreme® PTT as well as
other satellite or hybrid PTT devices or accessories that may be developed to further
expand enterprise applications for Iridium PTT.
The Iridium PTT Command
Center is the first ever cloud-based customer management system for
satellite-based push-to-talk solutions. The Command Center gives organizations
the ability to easily manage and define the geographic coverage for each needed
talkgroup. The coverage areas are created using a graphical map interface
fueled by Google Maps. Through the Command Center, administrators can quickly
and easily define which devices/users are members of specific talkgroups and
how many talkgroups are needed. As situations evolve, managers are able to make
changes to groups dynamically, and these are carried out over-the-air to
Iridium PTT devices within seconds.
Iridium PTT, like most
commercial and private trunked radio services solutions, uses half-duplex
communication, like a walkie-talkie, where one party talks to other
participants in a group who serve as listeners. The coverage provided by the
Iridium satellite network, as well as advanced security and features, elevates
this service far above and beyond what is currently offered today.
Iridium PTT works with
Iridium’s existing constellation and is compatible with Iridium NEXT, the
company’s next generation satellite constellation, which is scheduled to begin
launching in late 2015 and
to be completed in late 2017.
